Alaskan Cruise
An Alaskan cruise is an experience. So many people flock to the Caribbean for cruises that it's an incredible change of pace going to Alaska.
First of all, you won't pack the same clothes as on a Caribbean cruise. Pack warm sweaters, jeans, socks, and good walking shoes or boots. Be sure to have a warm jacket for the colder days or nights. Hats and gloves are also good to take along. Don't forget the evening clothes. There are still the special dinners and entertainment. So, pack those dresses and suits. You will need them, too.
May through September are the best months to take an Alaskan cruise. It's much more comfortable being warmer and having more daylight. Besides packing all of those warm clothes, take some lightweight items as well. The temperatures in Alaska can be in the 70s or even 80s in the summer. You really need to be prepared for all types of weather. Bring along that umbrella, too.
An Alaskan cruise usually starts in Seattle, Washington. It then works its way up through the inside passage into Alaska. Many ports are visited. Homer, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kodiak, and Sitka are just a few of the amazing ports you'll likely see. It is good to get off of the ship to visit these ports and see the local Alaskan lifestyle.
During an Alaskan cruise, there are whales to see, glaciers, bears, sea lions, birds, and other wildlife right from the deck of the ship. Just sitting outside on the deck will give you spectacular views of so much natural scenery that you'd better have your camera handy.
Besides eating and taking shore excursions, an Alaskan cruise ship offers activities. They range from exercise and gambling to visiting the spa, shopping, or just relaxing. An Alaskan cruise is an enjoyable adventure.
